The National Police College (NPC), located in Musanze District, on Tuesday, June 30, held a colourful farewell ceremony for 141 Level IV Officer Cadets, marking the successful completion of four years of academic study, professional police training and leadership development.
The graduating cohort comprised officer cadets from the Faculties of Police Professional Studies (PPS), Law (LLB), Computer Science and Information Security (ICT), and Modern Languages, with specialisations in Linguistics and Literature as well as Translation and Interpreting.
Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP (Rtd) Privat Gakwaya, the Academic Programmes Coordinator, presided over the ceremony and congratulated the graduates for completing one of the most important milestones in their professional careers.
He commended the cadets for the discipline, commitment and resilience they demonstrated throughout their training, noting that these qualities would remain essential throughout their policing careers.
"We appreciate the exemplary conduct you have maintained during your four-year journey at the National Police College," he said.

He urged the graduates to remain committed to the values instilled during their training and to continue building their professionalism as they transition into active service.
"As you prepare to leave the college, never lose the discipline that has shaped you. As you advance in your careers, continue to strengthen it, for discipline remains the foundation of professional policing and effective leadership," he added.
The ceremony was both a celebration of achievement and a farewell for cadets who had spent four years learning, training, and growing together.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating group, Officer Cadet Karenzi David, the Cadet Regional Commander, expressed gratitude to the college leadership, instructors, and staff for their mentorship, dedication, and unwavering support throughout the training programme.
"We arrived here from different backgrounds and cultures, but today we leave as one family, united by shared discipline, professionalism and the competencies required for modern policing," he said.
As the officer cadets leave the National Police College, they carry with them not only academic qualifications and professional policing skills but also the values of integrity, discipline and public service that will guide them in protecting and serving their communities.
