The National Police College (NPC), located in Musanze District, on Wednesday, July 29, recognised outstanding academic performers among 141 officer cadets of the 2022/26 intake.
The best performers from each of the college’s four undergraduate programmes were recognised for their academic achievements.
OC Manishimwe Pacific was named the best performer in Computer Science and Information Security (ICT), OC Ides Rugwiro in Modern Languages (ML), OC Ishimwe Claude in Law (LLB), while OC Mugwaneza Gaella was recognised as the best performer in Professional Police Studies (PPS).
Presiding over the ceremony, Commissioner of Police (CP) Christophe Bizimungu, the Commandant of NPC, congratulated the officer cadets on successfully completing their studies, commending their hard work, commitment and perseverance throughout their academic journey.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to these students on the successful completion of their studies. Such an accomplishment is the result of unwavering hard work, steadfast commitment, and true perseverance,” CP Bizimungu said.
In his message to the officer cadets, CP Bizimungu stressed the importance of upholding discipline alongside the knowledge and skills acquired during their training, describing discipline as a cornerstone of policing.
“We deeply commend the exemplary conduct you have demonstrated throughout your journey at the National Police College. As you prepare to embark on the next chapter of your careers, remember that discipline is the cornerstone of every policing duty,” he said.
“There are many individuals who may possess knowledge and skills, yet without discipline those attributes lose their true value. Knowledge without discipline is powerless. By making discipline the guiding principle of your lives, you open the door to a future filled with limitless opportunities and enduring success,” he added.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP Rtd) Privat Gakwaya, the Academic Programmes Coordinator, commended the officer cadets for their academic performance and preparedness to take on future responsibilities.
“Based on the quality of their performance demonstrated here, any training or duty assigned to them at this level will be executed with excellence. We witnessed this consistently whenever responsibilities were entrusted to them,” ACP (Rtd) Gakwaya said.
The recognition of the best academic performers underscores the National Police College’s commitment to developing professional police officers equipped with knowledge, skills and integrity to meet the demands of modern policing.
The programmes are delivered in partnership with the University of Rwanda, alongside professional police training, to equip officer cadets with both academic knowledge and policing competencies.
